Privacy Policy
Updated October 14, 2026
Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]. Last updated October 14, 2026.
This policy explains what personal information Prairie Post Seed Co. LLC (“Prairie Post,” “we,” “us”) collects, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. It covers prairiepostseed.com, orders we fill (including Etsy orders), our emails, and sales at markets and plant sales.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to fill your order, answer your questions and send the emails you ask for.
- There are no customer accounts or passwords on our site.
- Our site sets no cookies and uses no advertising pixels or third-party trackers. We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies.
- Your card details go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- We never sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. What we collect and why
| When you… | We collect | We use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Place an order on our site | Name, email, shipping address, billing address or ZIP code, items ordered, gift note, gift recipient’s name and address, the ship-to state you chose in your cart, any campaign tags from the link that brought you to our site (see section 2), and your answer to the optional “How did you hear about us?” question at checkout. Stripe also collects your payment details; we see only the card brand, last four digits and expiration date. | Charge you, pack and ship your order, send order and shipping emails, honor the Grow Guarantee, keep tax and bookkeeping records, prevent fraud |
| Join the Seed Club | The order details above, plus your membership start date, renewal date, payment status, your agreement to the Seed Club Terms, and your cancellation request if you cancel | Send your mailings, send the renewal reminders the law requires, process cancellations and refunds |
| Use one of our forms (contact, business packet quote, wholesale application, Seed Club cancellation, email sign-up) | What you type, such as name, email, phone, business name and address, quantities, dates and notes, plus any file you upload, such as a logo, and any campaign tags from the link that brought you to our site | Answer you, prepare quotes and proofs, set up accounts, fill orders |
| Email or call us | Your email address or phone number and what you tell us | Answer you and keep a record of what we promised |
| Join our email list | Your email address (and first name if you give it), the date and the page where you signed up | Send seasonal sowing letters, news and offers until you unsubscribe |
| Visit our site | Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you request to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us totals such as page views, referring sites, device type and country. | Run and secure the site and learn which pages help people |
| Use the cart | The items in your cart and the ship-to state you choose are saved in your own browser’s local storage, on your device. They aren’t sent to us until you check out. After you order, your browser also remembers which Missouri Native Series numbers you’ve collected (your “stamp album”); that list stays on your device and is never sent to us. | Keep your cart if you refresh or come back later, check that we can ship to your state, and show which numbers you’ve collected |
| Buy from us in person | If you pay by card, our card reader provider (such as Square) processes your payment. We may get your name and the last four digits of your card. | Take payment and keep tax records |
| Order from us on Etsy | Etsy gives us your name, shipping address, order details and the messages you send us | Fill your order and answer your messages. We never add Etsy buyers to our email list. |
| Order business packets or open a wholesale account | Contact name and role, business name, business address, phone and email, billing details, resale or tax-exemption certificates, logos and artwork | Quote, proof, invoice, deliver, and apply the correct sales tax |
| Send us garden photos or stories | Whatever you choose to send | Enjoy them and, only with your permission, share them |
We don’t collect Social Security numbers, birthdays or other sensitive information from customers, and we don’t ask for it.
2. Cookies, local storage and tracking
- Our site sets no cookies. We don’t use advertising pixels (such as Meta, Google, Pinterest or TikTok pixels), social media plugins that track you, session-recording tools or data brokers.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare says its Web Analytics doesn’t use cookies or local storage and doesn’t fingerprint visitors. We see only totals, not individual visitors.
- Security checks. Cloudflare protects our site from attacks. If it needs to check that a visitor isn’t a bot, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie on its own.
- Local storage for your cart. Your cart, the ship-to state you chose and your stamp album (the series numbers you’ve collected) are stored only in your browser. You can clear them any time by emptying your cart or clearing your browser’s site data.
- Campaign tags in session storage. If you reach our site through a link with campaign tags (for example
?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=winter-kit), your browser keeps those three tags in session storage until you close the tab. If you check out or send one of our forms during that visit, the tags go with it, so we can see which posts, emails or ads bring orders. They say only where the link was posted, not who you are, and they aren’t used to follow you anywhere else. - Checkout. When you check out, you go to Stripe’s secure checkout page. Stripe uses its own cookies there to process payments, prevent fraud and keep checkout secure, under Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We don’t track visitors across websites and we don’t sell or share personal information, so we treat every visitor as if these signals were turned on. No third party collects information about your online activities over time and across different websites through our site.
- Our ads. If we advertise on social media or search sites, those ads are targeted with the platforms’ own tools. We don’t install their tracking code on our site, and we don’t upload our customer or subscriber lists to advertising platforms.
3. Who helps us (service providers)
We share personal information only with companies that help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job.
| Service provider | What they do for us | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Online payments, Seed Club billing, receipts, fraud prevention | stripe.com/privacy |
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, security, Web Analytics and routing email sent to our addresses | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Google (Gmail) | Our business email inbox | policies.google.com/privacy |
| FormSubmit | Delivers what you type into our website forms to our email inbox | formsubmit.co |
| Pirate Ship | Creates shipping labels and tracking | pirateship.com/privacy |
| U.S. Postal Service | Delivers your order | about.usps.com privacy policy |
| Etsy | Our Etsy shop, for orders placed there | etsy.com/legal/privacy |
| Square (or a similar card reader) | Card payments at markets and plant sales | squareup.com privacy |
| Our email newsletter service | Stores our email list and sends our newsletters | Linked in the footer of every newsletter we send |
| Our packing partner | Fills and ships orders, so they see names, addresses and gift notes. They work under a written confidentiality agreement. | This policy applies |
| Our accountant and bookkeeping tools | Taxes and bookkeeping | This policy applies |
We may also share information when the law requires it (for example, a valid subpoena), to protect people’s safety, to prevent fraud, or to protect our legal rights. If our business is sold or merged, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who must keep honoring this policy for the information we collected.
4. What we never do
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted ads based on your activity across websites).
- We never share it with other companies for their own marketing. (California residents: this is our response under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, the “Shine the Light” law. Nevada residents: we don’t sell covered information.)
5. Emails from us
- Order emails (receipts, shipping notices, Seed Club reminders) are part of your purchase. You’ll get these even if you’re not on our email list.
- Marketing emails go only to people who sign up. Every one has an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. We honor unsubscribe requests promptly, and always within 10 business days, as the federal CAN-SPAM Act requires. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a “do not email” list so we don’t add you again by mistake.
- We don’t send text messages.
6. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Orders, invoices, refunds and tax records | Up to 7 years, as tax and accounting rules require |
| Seed Club records, including your agreement to the Seed Club Terms | While you’re a member, then at least 3 years (or 1 year after your membership ends, if longer), as automatic-renewal laws require |
| Quotes and inquiries that don’t become orders | Up to 2 years |
| Logos and artwork for business orders | While you’re a customer and up to 3 years after your last order, so reorders are easy, unless you ask us to delete them sooner |
| Email list | Until you unsubscribe (we then keep only the “do not email” record) |
| Cart contents, ship-to state and stamp album in your browser | Until you clear them |
| Campaign tags in your browser | Until you close the tab |
| Cloudflare analytics | Totals only; Cloudflare keeps them under its own policy |
7. How we protect it
Our site uses HTTPS everywhere. Payments run through Stripe, which is certified to the highest level of the payment card industry’s security standard (PCI DSS). There are no customer accounts or passwords on our site to steal. We use two-factor sign-in on the business accounts that hold customer information, and only the people who need it can see it. We will never ask for your password or full card number by email or phone.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affected your personal information, we would notify you as the law requires, including Missouri’s data breach law (Section 407.1500, RSMo).
8. Your choices and rights
Anyone, wherever they live, can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy;
- correct it; or
- delete it.
Email hello@prairiepostseed.com or write to us at the address below. To protect you, we’ll confirm the request comes from the email address or order on file before we act. We’ll answer within 30 days. Some records we must keep even if you ask us to delete them, such as order and tax records and Seed Club consent records; we’ll tell you if that applies. If we turn down any part of your request, you can reply and ask the owner to review the decision.
Several states have privacy laws that give residents rights like these. Most apply only to businesses much larger than ours, but we offer the same core rights to everyone. We won’t treat you differently for using them.
9. Children’s privacy
Our site and products are for adults. You must be 18 or older to buy from us. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, as the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (16 CFR Part 312) requires, and our site isn’t directed to children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email hello@prairiepostseed.com and we’ll delete it.
10. Where we operate
We’re based in St. Charles County, Missouri. We sell and ship only within the United States, and our service providers store information in the United States or under their own policies.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new “last updated” date. If a change affects how we use information we already have in a significant way, we’ll email the customers it affects before the change applies.
